Certified copies come from the South Dakota Department of Health, Vital Records, or any South Dakota Register of Deeds (official site).

You can order in person at any South Dakota Register of Deeds, not just the state office, which is usually the quicker option. The search fee is $15 per certificate, additional records on the same order add $15 each, and expedited processing costs $11.50 on top. Certified records go to the spouse, children, parents, guardian, next of kin, or an authorized representative, and you may be asked to prove the relationship.
