Certified copies come from the Georgia Department of Public Health, State Office of Vital Records (official site).
Order online, by mail using Form 3912, or in person. The fee is $25 per certified copy plus $8 processing, and FedEx expedited shipping costs an extra $16 per order. Plan ahead: processing can take up to 10 weeks. You must know the county where the death occurred to complete the form. Certified copies go only to someone with a direct and tangible interest, meaning primary family members or a legal representative of the family. State records run from January 1919 to the present.
